COMMUNITY GROUP FOSTERS DIALOGUE Citizen Group Encourages Residents to be Informed and Get Connected On Line
The District One Community Caucus (D1CC) unveiled its new website (www.d1cc.org) this month. The site is designed as a one-stop-shop for information on issues pertinent to residents in District One of Montgomery County, Maryland (roughly west to Potomac River, east to Rock Creek, north to Rockville, south to DC line). Land Use, Education, Transportation and the Environment are top issues of concerns for members. Be sure to visit the site and check it frequently.
The District 1 Community Caucus (D1CC) is designed to foster a dialogue about preserving and enhancing the quality of life in County Council District 1 of Montgomery County, Maryland. In the spring of 2007, community leaders gathered to create a format to exchange ideas with elected officials in an informal setting. Similar meetings have continued every few months. The group is non-partisan and provides an opportunity to reach out, share ideas and communicate with one another forging a stronger District One for all our citizens. Founder Jenny Sue Dunner said: “With so much going on in our lives and our community, it is critical to share information with one another, and more importantly, our elected officials. We all have a stake in the future of our county.”
The new website is a tool to expand the mission and engage more citizens. It features essays on current topics, calendar of events and links to resources to make being in touch with elected officials more seamless. Webmaster Bill Freund is excited about the new forum. “We are looking for citizens to contribute to the content so that the website can be a resource to inform and educate our residents about key issues in our area.”
One goal of the site is to highlight different citizen groups and their contribution to improving our quality of life in the area. To sign up your citizen group or to share your stories, please contact Ilaya Hopkins at ilayahopkins@verizon.net.
The site is hosted by John Nelson of Community Web (www.mycommunityweb.org). For more information about D1CC and the website, contact Jenny Sue Dunner at 301-657-3568 or Bill Freund at webmaster@d1cc.org. ### | |
