The Montgomery County Planning Department is in the middle of an innovative speaker series called ReThink Montgomery:

"Rapidly shifting demographics, economics and lifestyles present an opportunity for Montgomery County to re-examine the way we think about growth. The 2010 Montgomery County Planning Department speaker series, Rethink Montgomery, focuses on ways to connect culture, health, food, knowledge, ecology, economy, infrastructure, resources, and energy in the context of significant change. How we link those elements of sustainability will define Montgomery County for the next several decades."

Because I am Editor of RockvilleCentral.com, I was asked to be on the first panel,  "Kn for Knowledge"  to shed some light on the blogging process and understand a blogger’s motivation and decision-making. I talked about our ideology and experiences, especially how we define success and if blogging can make planning more equitable. Those in attendance who never gave a thought about blogging said they were now completely informed.

Montgomery County Planning also has a new blog called The Straight Line (http://montgomeryplanning.org/blog-design/ ).

Here's the details on the upcoming speaker panels which are held on Thursday nights: http://www.montgomeryplanning.org/design/rethink_montgomery/

Hope the information is helpful.
